Goodbye Fedora… :’-( … It’s not you, it’s me.

I’ve spent the last 3 hours trying to get VirtualBox setup and running on my Fedora 10 system. I’ve scowered the web in search of assistance for a “can’t create COM object” error - whatever that might be. I’ve had no luck. No support on any forums from anyone. I’ve even found where other Fedora users have complained of this issue, but so far I haven’t found where anyone has followed up or solved the error. First Adobe Flash Player had issues, now VirtualBox. Currently, Sun is only providing a Fedora 9 compatible package. It’s lacking full compatibility with version 10 and that causes a few problems.

While trying to fix this issue, I’m watching Hak5 on my laptop and Matt Lestock says he will only provide Ubuntu support for his SSH tunneling project saying that it’s mostly the Linux flavor of choice. Then, I stumble across “Goodbye Fedora” by Eric S. Raymond which helps me to decide that I will not invest time learning an incompatible Linux OS. It was fun, but I’ve got to let you go. Ubuntu is the way of the future. It’s server edition is picking up speed and popularity and it works. I didn’t have to spend anywhere near as much time with my initial setup of Ubuntu as I did Fedora.

  • I think that to get the business loans from creditors you should have a firm reason. However, one time I’ve got a secured loan, because I was willing to buy a house.
